Cover story for Hella Pinay Magazine Issue 02 – Fall/Winter’21 ‘Interconnected.’ For Ruby’s feature, I wanted to share a different side of her visually as well as connect deeper to her origin story. We visited significant places to her growing up in San Lorenzo – her old high school, teenage hangouts, and the apartment where she lived and did some of her earliest recordings.

I always knew that I wanted to have Ruby photographed by the homie B. Milky; I love her distinctive style and how she captures such raw moments and vibrant colors on film. I also tapped mutual friend and frequent Ruby collaborator Rocky G to come through and do a behind-the-scenes video. It really felt like we were back in high school running around the suburbs doing a photoshoot with friends for the pure fun of kicking it and creating.
