Hiieee, I’m Steph(anie Gancayco) and I’m an Oakland-based creative director, designer and DJ whose work is rooted in bridge-building, healing, and community. I’m the founder & editor-in-chief of Hella Pinay, an independent fashion and subculture platform celebrating Filipina/o/x identity; you can currently find me publishing our biannual print magazine, producing content and events, and managing a global team of contributors from Honolulu to Manila to Toronto. You can also catch me at the clurb spinning (mostly) modern house and techno from the Philippines and diaspora under the moniker deep th0ts, and co-hosting Hella Pinay Radyo every third Thursday on Lower Grand Radio. In a recent past life I lived in NY where I worked in design and product development for designers like Anna Sui and Jen Kao.
I love connecting, collaborating, getting to the why, and helping give form to concepts. Hit me up at slgancayco@gmail.com if you’d like to work together or just want to hear me inevitably say “word” a lot and swear on your panel (kidding. Kinda) ;-) You can also peep me on Instagram at @hella_pinay being a Filipino (sub)culture fanboi or see my work history here on LinkedIn 🤍
